Valerian Root for depression

Valerian Root has been used for hundreds of years to help people to sleep. This herb is also used to help with relaxation and it is a widely used ingredient in many of the herbal stress pills which can be purchased.

Valerian Root has also been recommended and used for conditions such as and related to epilepsy. This herb is not like the prescription anxiolytic drugs.  Valerian Root takes a little longer to increase an effect in the persons body. By doing this, it will not produce the "crashes" which can happen when medication wears off rapidly.

And as Valerian Root is also non-habit forming, there are a lot of doctors who like to suggest it as an alternative for patients who are suffering from insomnia.

As a herbal medicine, Valerian Root can also be prescribed and taken for bowel disorders and related illnesses, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Many people who use Valerian Root find that it is very good as a help for getting to sleep, especially if you are suffering with pains like a headache or migraine.  It  is also useful to take during bouts of the flu.

When people first take Valerian Root, they are tempted to consume more than the stated dose. This often happens because the person can not initially feel any benefits or effects from taking the Valerian Root. However,  Valerian Root takes a short while to kick into your system and to become effective.

If you decide to take Valerian Root to help you sleep, it is best to take it around 8 hours after you wake up and around 2 hours before you go to bed. This will give enough time for it to take effect.

Taking too much Valerian Root may cause some level of drowsiness which you will feel the next morning.

And during any periods when you may be experiencing anxiety,  a small dose of Valerian Root can work wonders. Best of all, it will not wear off quickly like some medication such as Diazepam.
